Advanced Training in MRI – Melbourne

Location: Various suburban hospitals & clinics, Melbourne

Duration:
12-months Hybrid
Fellow 3 days per week
General Radiologist 2 days per week

Overview: This position provides excellent exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical pathology in neurological, musculoskeletal and body fields, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal MRI.

Supervising radiologists are sub-specialty MRI Fellowship-trained and interpret a wide variety of examinations in the various departments in which they practice.

Candidates are expected to participate actively in a research project as part of this Fellowship.

Advanced Training in MSK/MRI – Launceston

Location: Launceston, Tasmania

Duration:
6- or 12-months Hybrid
Fellow 2 or 3 days per week
General Radiologist 2 or 3 days per week (as agreed)

Overview: I-MED is the leading provider of MSK imaging in Launceston in the north of Tasmania. MSK imaging includes MRI, MSK ultrasound and CT assisted intervention including joint injections, arthrography, facet joint injection and nerve root blocks.

The Fellowship encompasses all musculoskeletal imaging with a particular emphasis on MRI, ultrasound and interventional MSK.

This position includes:

  • Working on wide-bore 3T MRI with state-of-the-art coil technology, Toshiba Aquilion One CT, digital radiography, ultrasound
  • Exposure to integrated nuclear medicine service including SPECT/CT imaging
  • Full supervision in private hospital-based practice with supportive team of experienced radiologists
  • Access to a comprehensive range of journals and teaching library

Advanced Training in MSK/MRI – Hobart

Location: Hobart, Tasmania

Duration:
6- or 12-months Hybrid
Fellow 2 or 3 days per week
General Radiologist 2 or 3 days per week (as agreed)

Overview: I-MED Radiology is the leading provider of MSK imaging in Hobart and performs in excess of 140,000 examinations per year, with approximately 40% of these relating to MSK. MSK imaging includes MRI, MSK ultrasound, CT and fluoroscopy assisted intervention, including joint injections, arthrography, facet joint injection and nerve root blocks.

This position includes:

  • 1-2 afternoons per week in theatre with an orthopaedic surgeon during arthroscopy procedures
  • Attendance at the weekly multidisciplinary MSK meeting
  • Overseeing project and/or research work
  • Working on wide-bore 3T and 1.5T MRI with state-of-the-art coil technology, Dual Energy CT (DECT), digital radiography, ultrasound
  • Exposure to integrated nuclear medicine service (only private service in Hobart) including SPECT/CT imaging with high volume of MSK
  • Full supervision in private hospital-based practice with supportive team of experienced radiologists

Advanced Training MSK – Gippsland

Location: Gippsland, Victoria

Duration:
6-months Hybrid
Fellow, 2 or 3 days per week
General Radiologist, 2 or 3 days per week (as agreed)

Overview: I-MED Gippsland is a progressive regional campus with four hospital sites and several smaller clinic sites situated less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne. There are five MRI scanners in the region, of which three are Medicare eligible (including a 3T), providing a wide variety of MSK cases, including small parts and rheumatology cases.

You will be supervised by a ProScan USA-trained MSK radiologist and other highly experienced radiologists during the 6 months. There will be ample opportunities to improve on MSK procedures including ultrasound guided injections and CT/fluoroscopy guided spinal and joint injections.

The position also provides opportunity to be trained in Multi-Parametric MRI Prostate if required.

Advanced Training Breast – Melbourne

Location: Melbourne, Victoria

Duration:
6-months Hybrid
Fellow 3 days per week
General Radiologist 2 days per week

Overview: This position provides excellent exposure to a full range of breast imaging, supervised by highly experienced sub-specialist breast imaging radiologists.

The Breast Fellowship encompasses digital mammography including tomosynthesis, contrast enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, image guided biopsy including stereo vacuum assisted biopsy and pre-op localisation.

Breast imaging equipment includes state-of-the-art Hologic and Siemens mammography equipment and 1.5T and 3T MRI.

Breast imaging fellows will attend regular breast multi-disciplinary meetings and participate in at least one research project in conjunction with the Monash Breast Unit.

General Radiologist days will be based in various I-MED Radiology Melbourne metropolitan clinics.

Specialist Consultant / Junior Consultant Pathway

Location: Brisbane, Perth, Wagga Wagga or Canberra

Duration: 12-months

Overview: Our Specialist Consultant Programme is designed to support your transition into private practice during the first 12 months of your career as a radiologist.

Using our Network’s collective radiology expertise and working in partnership with ProScan in the USA, our Specialist Consultant Programme has a strong focus on MRI MSK and Neuro, Mammography, Breast and MSK procedures and Ultrasound, as well as identifying and developing other areas of clinical focus specific to your needs.

In addition to clinical development, the program is focused on providing training and support on topics such as using our technology, referrer liaison, risk management, understanding Medicare and billing, and managing workload

Key Features:

  • Participation in two 14-week MRI remote fellowships with ProScan Imaging - MSK and Neuro
  • Annual subscription to ProScan MRI online
  • Work across a variety of clinic settings and gain valuable experience in different modalities and benefit from the shared expertise of I-MED Radiologists, including I-TeleRAD
  • Identification of specific areas of clinical need and tailored development program i.e. procedures, breast/Tomo and ultrasound
  • Local supervision and support through appropriate rostering with I-MED Radiologists of aligned expertise and special interests
  • Time off the roster to participate in program tailored I-MED workshops and webinars on a variety of clinical and professional topics
  • Regular review of progress and performance and provision of feedback
  • Attendance at I-MED’s Annual Doctors Conference
  • Opportunity to work on the I-TeleRAD roster and increase income
