How do I use an I-MED e-Referral?

Click on ‘e-Referral’ in the navigation bar of I-MED Online 2.0.  A new electronic imaging request form will automatically open (as long as you are logged in). Simply fill in the fields with your patient’s details - your own details should pre-populate. Press ‘submit’. The form will be immediately sent securely to our contact centre, and we’ll send you an email to confirm its receipt. There are also some useful optional fields in the form, such as copying in another doctor.

What do the red and green bars on the e-Referral mean?

Red bars indicate a mandatory field, green an optional field. For some mandatory fields, entering details in one mandatory field reduces the number of other mandatory fields to complete. In these cases, a red field will then change to green. A good example is entering a provider number which moves all other practitioner details from red to green.

Will I receive a copy of the referral?

If you would like to receive a copy of the referral, please tick the box ‘Copy to me’. For security reasons, there is a two-step ID process to view the referral. We’ll send you a notification email with a link. The link will take you to a webpage which requires a password to view the referral. The displayed referral can be saved as a soft copy or printed.

How will my patient know that I-MED has received a copy of their imaging request?

Once you submit the e-Referral, successful delivery will be indicated by the green text and the prompt to create a new referral. For added certainty, you can have the referral delivered to yourself by ticking the ‘Copy to me’ box. Once we’ve received the imaging request, we will contact your patient to arrange their radiology appointment.

How do I send a copy of the referral to my patient?

If you would like to have a copy of the image request sent to your patient, please be sure to fill in the patient’s email address on the e-Referral. For security, your patient will receive a notification email from I-MED which will contain a link. The link will take them to a webpage which requires a password to view the referral. The displayed referral can be saved as a soft copy or printed.

Can I use e-Referrals for my face-to-face patients as well?

Yes, e-Referrals are very useful for face-to-face consultations as well as telehealth consultations. e-Referrals may also be particularly helpful with your older, or unwell patients, as they won’t have to arrange their own appointment or upload their referral. I-MED will contact your patients to arrange an appointment, and their referral will already be in our system.

Do I need to add an e-signature?

The new e-Referral does not require an e-signature however we do ask that you complete your name and confirm your entitlement to be able to request imaging.
