Dr Charmaine Macdonald

Dr Charmaine Macdonald began her medical career in general practice, working in Brisbane and regional locations throughout Queensland.Dr Macdonald relocated to Sydney to undertake radiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital. In 2006 Dr Macdonald obtained her FRANZCR Fellowship and worked in various radiology practices, including I-MED Radiology Network. During her time in Sydney, Dr Macdonald also worked as VMO at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Following a move back to Queensland in 2017, Dr Macdonald re-joined I-MED Radiology. Prior to working in Fortitude Valley, she has consulted at Chermside and at the I-MED Caboolture and North Lakes dedicated diagnostic breast imaging clinics.Dr Macdonald has a keen interest and expertise in women’s and breast imaging, mammography, breast tomosynthesis, ultrasound, MRI breast and breast procedures (i.e. biopsies and hookwire localisations). Dr Macdonald also works as VMO for BreastScreen Queensland.Dr Macdonald is a qualified NIOSH B reader, accredited to read and report ILO (International Labour Organisation) imaging for mining-associated pneumoconiosis and silicosis. She has additional specialties in cardiac CT, including CT cardiacangiogram (level A) and CT calcium score, and in therapeutic interventional procedures such as steroid injections and biopsies.
