Dr Pavithra Ukwatta

Dr Ukwatta obtained her medical degree and completed her radiology training in Sri Lanka. She came to Australia to complete the one year compulsory overseas training to be a qualified radiologist in Sri Lanka. While Working in Australia, she was offered a 1 year body imaging fellowship at the Sir Charles Gaidner Hospital in WA, followed by another year of breast imaging fellowship. As an intern medical officer she became interested in radiology, after seeing how the other clinical specialities rely on diagnostic and interventional radiology in early disease diagnosis and patient management, especially with regards to image guided minimally invasive procedures.Due to ever evolving technologies, there's no doubt that radiology is the fastest growing speciality in the medical field.She is especially interested in cross sectional abdominal imaging and breast imaging Dr Ukwatta says the patients in Gippsland are so friendly and each day she sees a large variety of cases. The lovely staff in the department makes I-MED Radiology Gippsland a home away from home.
