About Dr Padma Rao

Dr Padma Rao is a UK & Australian trained physician and radiologist and has been specialising in Paediatric Radiology since 1996. Dr Padma Rao is Director of Medical Imaging at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne having been appointed as a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist in 2002. She has been a sessional specialist with I-MED since 2009. She has a particular interest in imaging of the paediatric urinary tract and in the area of non-accidental injury and has longstanding experience in neonatal and paediatric imaging. Dr Rao has authored many journal articles and presentations along with several book chapters and has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings. She enjoys teaching and is an examiner for the Part 2 FRANZCR. She is currently Treasurer of the ANZSPR. Padma has a keen interest in quality in healthcare and is on the Executive Innovations and Improvement Committee at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Dr Padma Rao is a Director on the Board for Kind Cuts for Kids, a not for profit organization that aims to provide sustainable outreach medical and surgical care to children in developing countries by skill transfer and teaching of the local health care professionals, also participating in the workshops herself. Dr Rao is involved in The Wee Kids Foundation which is a support group for children based in Victoria involved in promoting the treatment, prevention and care of urological diseases in children.
