User FAQs
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA is an additional layer of security that requires users to verify their identity using two or more factors: something they know (like a password) and something they have (like an authentication app). This helps protect your account even if your password is compromised.
What I-MED systems require MFA?
Initially, MFA is required for InteleConnect, InteleBrowser and InteleViewer versions IntelePACS-4-16-1-R120 or later. Other systems may follow in future rollouts as part of our ongoing cybersecurity strategy.
When will MFA be activated for my account?
MFA activation is being rolled out in phases. You will receive email notifications both before and on the day of your MFA activation. If MFA isn’t enabled for your account yet, don’t worry, it will be activated in due course.
How will I know if MFA has been enabled on my account?
You will be prompted to set up MFA on your PACS login page when MFA is activated for your account. You will also receive a notification email with instructions and support contacts the day it is enabled.
What happens if I don’t set up MFA when prompted?
If you don’t set up MFA when prompted, you will not be able to directly log in to your PACS account. To avoid disruptions, we recommend installing a two-factor authentication app on your mobile device ahead of time so you’re ready to add your PACS account as soon as MFA is activated.
What kind of MFA apps can I use?
You can use any industry-standard authentication app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo Mobile. Links to download these apps are provided in the ‘Set up MFA’ instructions.
Can I use the same authentication app for multiple accounts?
Yes, most authentication apps support multiple accounts. Each account will provide unique login codes.
What if I don’t have a smartphone to use an authentication app?
If you don’t have a smartphone, please contact the Referrer Support Team for support.
I received an email saying MFA was enabled, but I wasn’t prompted to set it up. What should I do?
- Sign out of your PACS account. If MFA was enabled after you logged in, the setup prompt will not appear until your next login.
- Ensure you’re logging in directly to InteleConnect, InteleBrowser or InteleViewer not through RIS.
- If accessing through InteleViewer, check that the version is IntelePACS-4-16-1-R120 or later. MFA does not apply to earlier versions and you will need to update InteleViewer to enable MFA.
- If the issue persists, contact the Referrer Support Team.
How do I check what version of InteleViewer I have?
You can view your version on the InteleViewer splash screen:

What should I do if the QR code doesn’t scan?
Try adjusting the brightness of your screen or moving your device closer to or farther from the QR code. If scanning still fails, you can manually enter the setup key provided.
Will I need MFA every time I access PACS or only for certain systems?
MFA is required for direct logins to InteleConnect, InteleBrowser and InteleViewer (version IntelePACS-4-16-1-R120 or later). Logging in via RIS does not prompt MFA.
How often will I need to use MFA to log in?
You will need to use MFA whenever you log in to PACS directly. Once logged in, your session will remain active for 24 hours, after which you will need to log in again and reauthenticate using MFA.
What happens if I get a new phone or device?
You will need to reinstall your authentication app on the new device and set up MFA again using the QR codes or recovery keys provided during initial setup. If you no longer have access to these, contact the Referrer Support Team.
What happens if I lose access to my authentication app?
Contact the Referrer Support Team immediately to reset your MFA and regain access to your PACS.
Will MFA be introduced for other systems in the future?
Yes, MFA will be gradually implemented across all I-MED online platforms as part of our long-term cybersecurity strategy. We will communicate any future roll outs ahead of time to ensure minimal disruption.
Is using MFA mandatory, or can I opt out?
Once activated, MFA is mandatory for logging in to the specified systems to ensure compliance with our cybersecurity policies.
