We're supporting men's health this Movember

It's Movember time again!
In 2003, Movember started a movement for men's health. A movement that has since funded more than 1,320 men's health projects around the world, energising men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
The Movember campaign has taken on three of the biggest health issues affecting men: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. As a result, men are living healthier, longer lives.
From humble beginnings with 30 Mo Bros in 2003 with no money raised, the campaign now claims a headcount of over 6 million, and has raised more than $1.5 billion.
Tackling these important issues in a creative and fun way, Movember is pivotal in its ability to spark conversation and action around men’s health; leading to outcomes that can help men live happier, healthier, and longer lives.
The I-MED MO TEAM in action this year
Our national MO TEAM 'The I-MOs' will be getting active again this Movember - growing a mo, moving for Movember and/or donating to the cause. Doubling the impact and support of vital men’s health issues, I-MED Radiology will dollar match the total amount raised by the I-MOs.

Why we support Movember
Giving back to the community is a priority for us at I-MED Radiology, driven by a core value of compassion and by our purpose, which is to save lives and reduce uncertainty. We connect with local communities and healthcare organisations to expand access to healthcare services, reaching underserved populations and providing healthcare solutions
Men’s health is in crisis. A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.
Movember is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale, by funding ground breaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change.

What is prostate MRI?
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner uses strong magnetic fields (not radiation) to create a detailed image (or picture) of the prostate and surrounding tissues. MRI helps to find and map a suspicious spot in the prostate. A PSMA PET is a special scan that looks for prostate cancer cells throughout the body and checks whether cancer has spread outside the prostate or has come back after treatment.
A/Prof. Nick Brown, Clinical Director at I-MED, provides comprehensive guidance for understanding the use of MRI and PSMA-PET scanning in diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, as well as explaining the benefits and processes for each imaging modality.
