See below for a summary of the key differences between full and unlicensed MRI clinics, so you can choose the best option for your needs and budget. From 1 July 2025, the licenses are categorised as Full Medicare License or No Medicare License.

With changes to Australian government MRI regulation progressively coming into effect from 1 July 2025, clinics listed below as No Medicare License will become fully licensed from 1 July 2027.
In some specific instances, a clinic may not possess a Medicare license, however, due to a government deregulation ruling, I-MED may be authorised to offer full Medicare eligibility in these cases. Accessing the Medicare rebate under the ruling may affect the location of your scan. If your local I-MED clinic has no Medicare license, please contact the clinic for more information.
